What it's about
Gideon cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness...
He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...
Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds...and desires.
The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...
I was hesitant to read this at first to be honest. I thought it was going to be another 50 Shades and I wasn't interested. Anyway, I started reading it anyways. And I can honestly say that I loved it. Sylvia Day hooked me and I wanted and needed to know what the demons from their pasts were. I needed to know what made these characters the way that they are. And the fact that it's only the first book, I need to keep reading. I need to know what happens with these characters.
Why you should read it
So this book is definitely not for everyone. If you tried 50 Shades and hated it, then this is definitely not the book for you. But if this is your type of genre of book, then I think you should give it a try. Worst case, you close the book and don't finish it.
My rating
4/5 - this book was great and I definitely want to know what happens to the characters throughout the series - but it's not my favorite book of all time.
Have you read this book? Or maybe one similar? What did you think?
