This is one of my absolute favorite books of all time. I loved reading about how Cheryl hit rock bottom and found herself again. It's reassuring to know that no matter how bad life gets, it will get better. Check out my review here!

I read this book in high school and it is a really great read. It's a short, powerful book about a man's account of his time in the Nazi Concentration Camps. If you haven't read this book - you need to.

Another WW2 book that is super powerful. I loved reading this one as well. There's something so important about reading books about our world's past.
4. Rachel's Tears by Darrell Scott

A really good friend of mine told me about this book, and I was intrigued and need to read it. This is one girl's story (as told by her parents) of her last days on Earth, as Rachel Joy Scott was killed during the Columbine shooting. Although, definitely a Christian read - it's still a great read.
5. Left To Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust by Immaculate Ilibagiza

I had the privilege of listening to this woman speak while I was in high school. She spoke about her book - which I promptly read. Again, this is a great read. Yes, she talks about finding God, but you also learn about what her and her family went through during the Rwandan Holocaust. Again, it's so important to read books like this so that we know the horrors of our world. Overall, such a great read!
